A friend of mine wrote a book.

He wrote it from inside an illness he was living through — to change something almost no one prepares you for: not the treatment, but the mind. How you hold yourself when a diagnosis takes the floor out from under you. It was a book built for the hardest stretch of a person’s life, by someone standing in it.

And something about it wouldn’t leave me. A book like that exists to reach people in their worst moment — and a worst moment is exactly when reading gets hard. The focus isn’t there. The energy isn’t there. Sometimes the book isn’t even in a language the reader knows. The thing made to help can sit just out of reach of the person who needs it most.

That’s where Parlecto started: a book that could help, and a person who couldn’t get to it.

So we built the simplest bridge we could. Take any book, paper, or document — and hear it aloud, in your language. Ask about it, and get answers grounded in the text. You don’t need the energy to read the page to receive what’s on it. You don’t have to read it in the language it was written in.

It began with one friend and one book. It grew from there — to people who love to read but never find the hour, to students reaching across a language they’re still learning, to researchers working in texts never written for them, to anyone who’s ever been left outside something they wanted to reach.
